Julia Bennett (photo by Zac Crofford)Bottle Alley Theatre Company would like to announce Julia Bennett as our new Artistic Director, beginning next season.

Julia Bennett (any pronouns) is an actor, artist, and writer who finds value in exploring a wide variety of mediums and forms, and in learning how those forms feed into each other in surprising ways. Fueled by collaboration, experimentation, and playfulness, they are incredibly excited to bring their deep love of - and interest in - site-specific, immersive theatre works to the Bottle Alley universe. They have worked with several theatre companies in Austin as a performer, including the Filigree Theatre and Dirty Gold Theatre, and have also co-created experimental performance projects solo and with friends.

Julia will be taking over the Artistic Director position from Amber Wilson who has served as our Artistic Director for the past two seasons as well as our current ongoing season. Amber has been responsible for the programming of some of Bottle Alley's most successful shows including We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Aurora, Trash Planet and The Haunting of Hill House. Amber also programmed and is overseeing all of our current season including the upcoming premiere of We Need to Do Something. We are so thankful to Amber for leading Bottle Alley for the past three years and wish her the best in all her future endeavors.

Bottle Alley founder Chris Fontanes continues on in a Executive Director-type of role as part of a collective that includes Marian Kansas, Sarah Hogestyn, Trace Turner, Cody Arn and Jessika Land.
