General Notes

Since 1938, the College of Fine Arts has been preparing artists, actors, dancers and musicians to teach in Texas schools and schools across the nation.

 

UTeach Fine Arts provides valuable real-world, early teaching experience in many settings, preparing students for the classroom and to take the certification exams TEA requires, leading to Texas Teacher Certification. UTeach Fine Arts graduates’ exam passing rates for these tests typically exceed 98%.

 

Purpose

Under direct to general supervision, this part-time Austin based role will support activities in the UTeach Fine Arts Office.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with updating UTeach Fine Arts web site

  • Assist with social media feeds

  • Provide event support on the day of events.

  • Setup and breakdown of some events (ordering, picking up food)

  • Assist with updating the UTFA manual

  • Assist with certification payments

  • Interact with faculty, students and staff online and in person.

  • Perform other related functions as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts, communications, education or related fields.

  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and shift focus between tasks. Ability to adapt and maintain flexibility.

  • Demonstrate excellence in organization and time management skills, including the ability to minimize the workload for others.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to provide administrative and student support with discretion, diplomacy, integrity, and confidentiality.

  • Strong work ethic and record of punctuality and attendance.

  • Demonstrated ability to receive direction, cooperate with supervisor and co-workers, and work independently.

  • Ability to maintain excellent peer relationships and accomplish routine tasks in a timely manner.

  • Combined online and occasional onsite role based in the Austin area

 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience as a K-12 arts teacher.

  • Experience working with university faculty, staff, and students.

  • Experience and familiarity with UT Austin structure, policies, procedures, and administrative functions.

  • Experience with meeting coordination and scheduling.

  • Competency running Zoom meetings

 

Salary Range

$20.00 per hour, up to 19 hours per week

 

Working Conditions

  • This is a mostly on-line, occasional on-site role based in the Austin area

  • Standard office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.

  • Occasional weekday meetings and evening events.

  • Business casual attire
