Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in San Antonio Theatre: A BIPOC Community Discussion, August 11, 2023

Public discussion at 2 p.m., Friday, August  11 at Ierma's Nite Club, 1602 N Zarzamora St San Antonio, TX 78201:

(via Amalia Letitia Ortiz)In a majority-minority city, BIPOC theatre makers struggle to get stories on SA stages and a fair share of theatre roles and jobs. The death of George Floyd sparked a national movement of theaters releasing Black Lives Matter solidarity statements and "commitments" to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

How do we hold San Antonio theaters to that commitment? How do we petition the city to distribute arts funding in a way which truly represents the diverse voices of our city? Please come ready to brainstorm actionable next steps for change. BIPOC and marginalized voices will be centered in this discussion, but all allies are welcome. Actions we are considering require numbers. So, please spread the word.
