Tex-Arts Lakeway Appoints Jonathan Young as Artistic Director

Jonathan Young (via Tex-Arts)We are pleased to announce TexARTS’ new Artistic Director,Jonathan Young. Jonathan is a theatre director, educator, and award-winning actor and voice artist with more thanb 20 years’ experience in nonprofit leadership. He has a MFA in Acting from Brandeis University and a BA in Dramatic Arts and Psychology from University of California, Santa Barbara.

American Fight Directors, Jonathan was a NYC-based actor before moving to the Austin area. He has produced more than 20 plays and musicals over his career. Jonathan has taught at TexArts, Southwestern University, Austin Community College, Georgetown Palace Theatre, Brandeis University, Mendel School (NYC), and others. In addition, he is skilled at leading non-profit organizations having founded one himself.

Jonathan has numerous acting and voice credits including NBC’s 30 Rock, Comedy Central’s The Onion Sports Network and he was featured in 2016 Super Bowl commercial. Chairwoman Natanya Anderson said “We are thrilled to have Jonathan join the TexARTS team and drive our artistic vision for both the Professional Series and the Academy. His history and experience with TexARTS will help him hit the ground running as we look forward to a busy spring and summer." Jonathan will start on February 15.

Sandy Cox will remain as the interim executive director and will work side-by-side with Jonathan to continue to deliver on TexARTS’ promise: To be an arts education and performance center where art and artists of all disciplines are WELCOMED and CELEBRATED and NURTURED.
