The Department of Theatre at Southwestern University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Acting and Directing to start August 2022.
The successful candidate will hold an MFA or PhD and will teach acting and performance courses and upper level courses in their area of scholarship and expertise. Additionally, this person will contribute to our co-curricular production season by directing one production per year. Faculty at Southwestern are expected to teach a standard course load of five courses per year (in theatre, a 2-2 and a production-course equivalency), maintain an active research and/or creative agenda, as well as participate in university governance, departmental collaboration, First-Year Seminar, academic advising and recruiting. The successful candidate will teach acting and performance courses and upper division classes in their area of scholarship and expertise. Additionally, this person will contribute to our co-curricular production season by directing one production per year. Because our institution is a small liberal arts college, we especially welcome candidates who will contribute to interdisciplinary programs such as Race and Ethnicity Studies, Latin American and Border Studies, Feminist Studies and International Studies and who would be open to developing close teaching and scholarly relationships with other relevant departments and programs.
