Embolden II - Salvage Vanguard and other Austin Friends Talk about How to Fund Your Art Project, September 18, 2021

(received from Marina DeYoe-Pedraza)

(via Embolden project)"Congratulations, you’re a professional artist! You’ve spent a lifetime of cultivating your craft to reach this dream, and people love your work. Great.

But in your years of training, no one taught you the business side of your craft. Your mentors taught you everything you know, but left you hanging on what you should charge for your product, how to fundraise for your show, and paying taxes as a private contractor. As a professional artist, you’ve only been able to learn these lessons the hard way.

Embolden Workshop Series is a three-part workshop series created by Salvage Vanguard Theater, Early Era Collective, and Groundfloor Theater for artists to develop the business skills we were never taught. Experienced professionals in the field will save you time, energy, and money in these donation-based workshops. Attend one or all of these 1.5 hour sessions, and meet other Austin artists who feel your pain.

Our next workshop is Fund Your Project on Sept. 18th , 2021 from 3:00-4:30 pm.

Discover various ways to effectively fundraise for your show/project including: digital, grants, individual giving, events, and community-centered fundraising.

Led by Suhailah Waheed of Giving Geeks, Simone Alexander of Ground Floor Theatre and New Manifest Theatre, and Heather Arnos of Armstrong Community Music School.

This is an affordable opportunity! Tickets are donation-based with a suggested price of $8 to $25 -- you can attend for free if needed, or donate more if you got it! Money goes to paying our guest teachers and venue.   Please purchase your tickets online with as much notice as possible. This helps us to organize the event with as many safety precautions as possible.
