Job Description:
As a staff member of the department’s Costume Shop, the Master Draper works closely with faculty and students by creating costumes and helping realize designs while working within the budgetary and scheduling framework for live productions in the Department of Theatre and Dance.----

Responsibilities
-
Utilize specialized skills to fully realize costume designs for departmental productions within the given budgetary and scheduling framework.

Participate in all duties, responsibilities and activities related to the operations of the Costume Production Areas. Help maintain and organize the Costume Shop facilities, Costume Stock, Wardrobe facilities, Classroom facilities, etc.

Promote and facilitate the use of professional Costume Shop standards and practices while supervising, training, and mentoring students and student employees. Contribute to student evaluations.

Attend meetings and rehearsals as required.
Required Qualifications
-
High School graduation or GED.
-
Four years of experience as a professional costume draper with knowledge of period and contemporary costuming and construction techniques.

Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.
-
Practical knowledge and demonstrated skill in the use of standard costume shop equipment and machines.

Grace under pressure and the ability to work within deadlines.
-
Desire to work in an educational environment.
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
-
Flexibility, positive attitude and collaborative nature.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree.
-
Experience in a supervisor capacity.
-
Experience working with students and/or related experience working in an academic institution.

Experience in costume construction for Dance.
-
Additional training in specialized theatrical costume construction techniques.
-
Knowledge of costume history.
Salary Range
$40,000 + depending on qualifications

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Occasional night and weekend hours.
