City of San Antonio Grants

SATCO has recently become aware of new City grants that are available to apply for now. We wanted to be sure all theatres and performers in San Antonio were aware that this funding is available.

  • Individual Artists Grants: The Department of Arts & Culture’s Project Grants for Individual Artists is now open. This up to $5,000 grant supports San Antonio based artists of all genres in the creation of new works for presentation to the San Antonio community.

  • The City of San Antonio Hospitality Grants: In partnership with the Houston Street TIRZ, $14.25 million has been provided to fund grants for the hospitality industry. Though the emphasis is on food & beverage small businesses, entertainment and recreation businesses are included in this (with performing arts and theater companies included in the list of eligible businesses). 10% of the funds will be dedicated to the entertainment and recreation sector, with additional points assigned in the evaluation process depending on the business location, race, ethnicity, gender and veteran status of the business owner and if the business has received other COVID-19 funds. The full details can be found here and applications are due before Monday, April 5 at 11 p.m. CT.

  • Shuttered Venue Operators Grant: Please note we are constantly keeping updated on the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant, established by the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act – and amended by the American Rescue Plan Act. The program includes over $16 billion in grants to shuttered venues, to be administered by SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance. The application process is not yet open, but details on the program can be found here: https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/loans/coronavirus-relief-options/shuttered-venue-operators-grant
