2020 Productions, Playhouse Smithville

From john daniels jr.:

(via Playhouse Smithville)To all Playhouse Actors, Artists and Audience:

Our Season 10 is ending at production 109, Out to Lunch, performed for SISD starring Dana, Matt and me*. The shows we enjoyed this year are happy memories made, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Noises off!, and Beauty and Beast.

Now we take a deep breath look each other in eye, laugh, wink, smile and push on to Season 11. This summer we are producing a Shakespeare in the Park, Romeo and Juliette and then in September is Sam Blasco’s production of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire. Also, toward the end of the summer, we are proud to present a staged reading of the first Texas Veteran’s Playwriting contest winner Troop 2239 by Delynn Peschke. This year we will première the Rock Opera, An Unsafe Place book and lyrics by local playwright Will Holcomb, music by Matt Torrez and Geno Gottschall. And more shows to come.

Playhouse Smithville sends a shout out to our friends in theatre: The Bastrop Opera House, Lee County Center for the Arts, Fayette County Community Theatre, Hasty Retreat Productions and our good friend James Longmire at The Lyric Theater in Flatonia. Community theater is the backbone of American theater and it is alive and well in our part of rural Texas. Come Play! -john*
