Georgetown Palace Theatre Invitation to Visit Construction Site of New Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, December 3, 2019

The Georgetown Palace Theatre Celebrates GivingTuesday with Open House for New Education Center

(www.georgetownpalace.com)This GivingTuesday, The Georgetown Palace Theatre will inspire generosity by inviting the community into the Doug Smith Performance Center construction site for an open house event. The Palace hopes to help patrons ENVISION the future of this building and the benefits it will bring to the community.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to
transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 3rd, and throughout the year.

The Palace sees this year’s GivingTuesday event as a way to thank community members and encourage them to donate before 2020 to have their gifts matched by longtime supporter, Doug Smith. Since announcing this match in August, donors have given $265,380 to be doubled.
The Palace’s Open House event at the Doug Smith Performance Center will happen on Tuesday, December 3rd , from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the construction site on 2nd and Rock Street. Details about this event can be found on our Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/GeorgetownPalace/.

“We are excited to be a part of such an amazing movement” stated Palace Director of Development, Kristen Smith. “The Georgetown Palace Theatre sees the future of our students in the Doug Smith Performance Center. By being a part of GivingTuesday you are building their futures for years to come.”

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good.

Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. "GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year." said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. "With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world."
