The Helliwells, the Parkers and the Soppitts are highly respected pillars of their community … but not for much longer. Married on the same day in the same chapel, they gather to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The celebrations are short-lived when they discover the vicar wasn’t licensed and they are actually not married. In fact, they have been living in sin for 25 years.

 

 Directed by Norman Blumensaadt (John Gabriel Borkman, Il Campiello) When We Are Married features Mick D’arcy (The Dresser) and Katherine Schroeder (The Dresser) as Alderman Helliwell and his wife Maria; Ian King (Charley’s Aunt); and Miriam Rubin (The Last Night of Ballyhoo); as Councillor Parker and his wife Annie; and Steven Fay (It Can’t Happen Here) and Susan Roberts (The Best Man) as Herbert and Clara Soppitt. Will Douglas (Il Campiello) and Katherine Wehler (The Mousetrap) play the church organist and Helliwells’ niece. Completing the cast are Shonagh Smith (The Wolves) and Janét Vincent Lee (The Diary of Anne Frank) as hired help for the anniversary party; Derek Webster (Much Ado About Nothing) and Ian Prikryl (The Odd Couple) as the photographer and reporter; and Chris Casey (The Alchemist) and Mindy Rast-Keenan (My Big Fat Bahookie) as the Rev. Mercer and a mysterious lady.

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Please note that When We Are Married closes on Friday February 2.

Tickets are: $15 Thursday, and pick your price $20, $25 or $30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
