Opportunity: One-Year Full-Time Instructor Position in Drama Department of St. Mary's University, San Antonio

 
St. Mary’s University seeks applicants for a one-year full-time instructor position in the Department of Drama beginning Fall 2017. Candidates for the position must have at least a master’s degree, either in Drama or Theatre, preferably with expertise in Directing, Theatre History or Performance Studies and be able to teach a diverse range of departmental courses (including one in theatre education) and those for the St. Mary’s Core in which the primary course is “Foundations of Practice: Fine Arts & the Creative Process (Theatre Emphasis)”. An ordinary course load is 12 hours per semester. Additional duties include contributing to departmental initiatives in terms of recruitment, production, faculty development and community-based activities. Candidates indicating experience in Directing and another area of theatrical production, administrative abilities, student mentorship and collaboration on projects with other academic programs, especially Music, are highly desirable. This appointment is for a one-year contract. 

The Department is a small, well established and growing program that currently offers a minor (18 hours) in Drama. We are undergoing an exciting phase in which we are re-examining our curricular and theatre production needs and pursuing projects in line with the University’s designation as a campus of conscience. Any candidate would have to be active and willing to contribute to the realization of such goals.
