Video: Background of LOVES GOES TOWARD LOVE, a Shakespeare Compendium, May

We (Becca Musser and Taylor Flanagan) are creating an exploration of love and relationships through same-sex performances of Shakespeare’s couples and wannabe couples (from the more obscure to the most beloved).

Performances will focus on the story, text, and relationships because queerness is not a gimmick for us. We want to use Shakespeare's words to tell stories of queer love in a way that’s simple and honest. There are queer artists involved in every aspect of the production. We are collaborating with a powerhouse team that believes that everyone should have the chance to fall in love using the immortal words of the Bard.

What would your donation go towards?
This is a low-budget production, so our two largest expenses are venue rental and artist pay.

All of the artists working on this project are passionate about putting this show together and have agreed to be paid only once the venue and minimal marketing costs are paid off. So, theatrical elements like set, props, and costumes will remain simple, in the hopes of putting as much money into the artist's hands as possible.

This show will run for 6 nights at Austin Public in central Austin, May 26th - June 4th, and will feature Taylor Flanagan, Becca Musser, and a cast of rotating guest performers.
