A Christmas Carol Classic Radiocast, by Nathan Jerkins December 3-26, 2015 at Old Settlers Hall in Round Rock
After putting their signature spin on holiday stories from the golden age of film, the players of the fictional KPNF radio station are reaching further back in time for Dickens's much cherished masterpiece, "A Christmas Carol". Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchet, the Spirits and dozens of others are brought to life by a small company of virtuosic voice actors and live foley sound effects reminiscent of "A Prairie Home Companion". Together, they tell the heartwarming story of an ice-hearted miser who is given a last shot at redemption one miraculous Christmas Eve night!
Clybourne Park, by Bruce Norris May 26 – June 5, 2016 at the Rollins Theatre, Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin
A spin-off of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, this razor-sharp new satire takes a jab at race and real estate in a fictional Chicago neighborhood. The play begins in 1959 as a black family moves into a white enclave. Act Two takes us back to the same house in 2009 as gentrification sets in and the roles are reversed. One agile ensemble of actors play two sets of characters in this highly celebrated winner of the Tony Award, Olivier Award and Pulitzer Prize for best new play.
Comedy of Errors, by William Shakespeare July 7-30, 2016 at the Round Rock Amphitheater in Round Rock
Take one pair of estranged twin brothers (both named Antipholus); add one pair of estranged twin servants (both named Dromio); throw them in a city known for sorcery; and what do you get? Shakespeare's breeziest and most farcical comedy, overflowing with slapstick, romance, word play and, of course, mistaken identities! In this original adaptation for five actors, the Dromios and Antipholi are on the verge of finding each other after decades of separation... if they can only keep from bumbling into trouble that could land them in prison - or worse!
