2013-2014 B. Iden Payne Theatre Awards Ceremony

The B. Iden Payne Council is pleased to present their 40th annual awards ceremony, celebrating the best of Austin theatre, November 3 at the Long Center.

The B. Iden Payne Awards, one of the oldest theatrical traditions in Austin, are celebrating their 40thyear honoring outstanding work in Austin theatre, and we are excited to present these awards at the beautiful Debra & Kevin Rollins Studio at the Long Center.

This year, we are presenting a full range of categories, bringing our grand total to 40 awards. In addition to our stable of awards for Comedy, Drama, and Music theatre, we are pleased to add two new Improv theatre awards as well as recognition for Stage Managers. We are also pleased to revive the Distinguished Achievement award for outstanding contributions to Austin theatre.

The community may select the Distinguished Achievement recipients as well as vote on all other categories by submitting a ballot.  Our volunteer Council has viewed 184 eligible productions this year, and spent many hours creating this year’s awards ballot which is available to all in the community by donation through the B.Iden Payne Awards website. A donation of ANY amount goes directly to keeping this vibrant tradition alive.

As for the ceremony, we thought the only sensible thing to do was to keep “40” our theme for the night, so 1940s dress or black tie is highly encouraged!  We are so excited to announce our hosts for the evening will be the wildly entertaining duo of Cami Alys and Chris Gibson of Industry Night fame.  In addition, a cash bar and small treats will be available throughout the ceremony.

We invite everyone to show their support for all the spectacular work of these artists by submitting a ballot, then joining us on awards night to celebrate the winners. For those of you really in the know, there will also be an afterparty at the Brass House where we’ll enjoy happy hour specials and an open mic for daring performers all night.
