The Performing Arts Academy of New Braunfels is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting the arts in New Braunfels and surrounding areas by providing quality performances for all ages to enjoy. We are devoted to creating opportunities for talented children and adults through our shows, performances, and educational workshops.
Our mission is to promote the tradition of theatre, music, art, photography, film and enrich our community by encouraging youth to participate and enjoy the arts by bringing in talented artists in our community as well as bringing in talents from all over the US.
What we do
The New Braunfels Performing Arts' goal is to provide a positive atmosphere where individuals can grow their artistic talents in a positive environment using talented instructors to guide them to reach their goals. Our mission is to promote the tradition of theatre, music, art, photography, and film; and enrich our community by encouraging youth to participate and enjoy the arts through exposure to talented artists in our community and beyond.
Sherry Bettersworth is the Artistic Director for The Performing Arts Academy of New Braunfels. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance/Secondary Education/History from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. While attending Texas State, she was a member of the award winning Strutters dance team for 4 years, serving as a lieutenant for 2 years. The Strutters performed around the world including performances in China, Hong Kong, and South Korea. International performances were televised and she sang and played guitar as well as danced in them. She has been a lead vocalist/guitarist in bands as well as other performances through the years. After getting her teaching certificate she taught at Hays High School as the Dance Director for two years and then as Dance Director at Smithson Valley for 16 years. She has attended workshops throughout the years and has certifications in many areas including; certified judge for competition tryouts, aerobic instructor, personal trainer and team building. She is also very involved with our community, serving as PTA President, PTA Council of New Braunfels Arts and Education Chairman, Children’s Choir Director of Grace Memorial Church, United Way member, Education Foundation member, as well as many other volunteer positions. Her passion is working with youth to help grow their talents to become confident and accomplished performers.
