May 23-24, 2016, Monday and Tuesday 6:30 – 9 pm.

Rehearsal period mid-July  through August 2016; production  dates September 2016 at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center.

 

Seeking female actors, ages 40-65 for the following roles. Actors should prepare a comedic and dramatic monologue, each approximately 1 minute in length.

 

CLARA:      40’s-50s. Emi and Gus’s Mexican-born mother. Multifaceceted: religious, protective, and manipulative, yet industrious and resilient. Native Spanish-speaker, fluent  English-speaker.

 

[NAME NOT GIVEN] Female. Late 40’s-50s. Must speak Spanish fluently.

 

MIRKA/PHYLLIS (played by same actor):

Mirka   Middle-aged or Senior. Cleaning woman. World-wise immigrant who speaks English with a pronounced Eastern European accent.

Phyllis  Polished, profit-minded literary agent.  Female. Middle-aged or Senior. Must be able to perform in heavy Eastern-European accent.
