OPEN CALL FOR AUDITIONS for a paid acting role in People of Color Christmas: The White Elephant in the Room -- a new, original, contemporary, comedic play by Austin resident/Vietnamese-American playwright Christine Hoang.

POC Christmas explores issues of family, race, class, gender, love, and relationships as White Elephant party hostess Regina and her quirky crew of loveable and diverse (Latino, Black, Asian-American) friends gather over mulled wine, Christmas cookies, gossip, and regifted presents. Join the party to discover what secrets these friends reveal and what outrageous regifts they steal.


Seeking a fun, adventurous male actor to play the role of "John" - Regina's love interest/secret crush from work. Seeking an actor who can play a man in his 30s, 40s, or early 50s. Actively seeking an actor of color.

Casting is nearly complete, but we are still looking for one male actor to complete our ensemble. Seeking a fun, adventurous male actor to play the role of "John" - Regina's love interest/secret crush from work. Seeking an actor who can play a man in his 30s, 40s, or early 50s. Actively seeking an actor of color.

 POC Christmas will run for 7 shows from December 16-20, 2015 at Ground Floor Theatre.

AUDITION:Sunday, September 20, 2015, from 1-4 pm by appointment

WHERE: Ground Floor Theatre at 979 Springdale Road, Austin, TX

HOW: For an audition slot, please contact Christine Hoang at pocXmas@gmail.com. In your email, please attach a current resume and photo.

During your audition, please:
* Provide 6 hardcopies of a current resume.
* Provide at least one headshot/current photo.
* Perform a one-minute contemporary monologue.
* Be prepared to do movement. Auditioners will be taught simple hip-hop choreography to perform in a group. No prior dance experience necessary.
* Be prepared to tell us a happy and/or painful Holiday memory in 3 minutes or less.
* Optional: prepare one minute of song to sing a cappella.

GROUND FLOOR THEATRE'S MISSION is to concentrate on new works by and for under-represented communities. We are an incubator to foster and grow new and groundbreaking works that shine a light on groups that seldom bask in light. We will also be a home for the Austin Theatre Community to come together and learn from one another in order to make Austin shine as a leader in the national theatre community.
