Open Casting Call for 40th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival

The Texas Renaissance Festival is holding auditions on May 3 and May 10 on the festival grounds in Todd Mission, Texas and is seeking actors, performers, individuals and specialty acts to work at the 40th anniversary for the largest Renaissance Festival of its kind.
The 40th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival will take placeover eight exciting weekends from Saturday, October 11 through November 30, 2014. Each weekend, a different theme comes to life across the 55-acre festival grounds including; Oktoberfest, 1001 Dreams, All Hallows Eve, Pirate Adventure, Roman Bacchanal, Barbarian Invasion, Highland Fling, and Celtic Christmas. A major addition to the 40thanniversary celebration is the King Midas Masquerade Ball to be held every Saturday during the festival.
“Each weekend is dedicated to something specific, so our casting call is meant for people who can stay true to character whether they are a pirate or a barbarian,” says Jeffery L. Baldwin, Entertainment Director at the Texas RenaissanceFestival. “With the introduction of the King Midas Masquerade Ball, we are especially looking forward to seeing actors and performers who can bring something different and unique to the Texas Renaissance Festival this year.”
The auditions will be held during morning and afternoon sessions through improvisational and prepared performances. All performance positions are paid.

Morning Session:

- 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Character Auditions
Afternoon Session:
- 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.Check-in
- 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.Specialty Acts
- 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.Characters Audition
Audition Tips:Performers are judged on confidence, speaking ability, how they stand/walk and how they show emotion.
Audition Requirements:Performers must schedule an appointment in order to audition. Call 1-800-458-3435 MondaytoFriday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Specialty actsof groups or individuals who perform music, magic, juggling, storytelling, dance, etc. will have a maximum of 10 minutes to showcase their talent. The content is up to the performers and creativity, costumes and props are encouraged.
Character actorswill audition in a workshop format, featuring improvisational exercises. Photo, resume and prepared auditions are appreciated, but not required. Monologues should be of the Renaissance period and no longer than two minutes. Songs must be performed a cappella. Movement oriented clothing is recommended and costumes are not necessary for auditions.
