Winnie the Pooh

Winnie-the-Pooh finds himself involved in all sorts of frantic adventures, assisted by such friends as the dismal Eeyore, Piglet and Rabbit.  Pooh's intentions are always the best, but his passion for honey and condensed milk keeps getting him into trouble.  Come see A.A. Milne's beloved characters in this charming musical adaptation.

 


ZACH Theatre announces auditions for the upcoming Theatre For Families production of Winnie the Pooh on Monday May 4 from 9 am-2 pm and Wednesday May 6 from 9 am-2 pm, with callbacks on Thursday May 7 from 10 am-3 pm in ZACH’s Nowlin Rehearsal Studio at 1426 Toomey Road.  

Seeking Non-Union MEN, WOMEN and Understudy Actors, who are versatile, physical, strong singers who move well.  A bonus if actors can play musical instruments.

(Actors should audition only if they will have daytime availability in September, October, November, and December.)   

Rehearsals begin on Monday August 31, 2015.  The show will run for schools and families in the Kleberg Theatre from September 18 through December 12, 2015.  Performances will be Tuesdays through Sundays.  Weekend performances will be at 11 am, 2 pm, and 4:30 pm.  Weekday matinee performances will be at 10 am and 12 pm.  

 AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS:

+ We are only seeking non-AEA actors with daytime availability in September, October, November, and December.

+ Please choose any one of the three songs below to sing.  NOTE:  All actors will be considered for all roles.  Click the links to download and MP3 version, as well as the sheet music.

+ If you are selected to attend the callbacks on Thursday, May 7, the dance auditions will occur during that day.

+ Actors will be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

 CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

Winnie the Pooh:  (Male, 18-50) caring, loyal, obsessed with honey, not always the brightest bear in the woods.

Christopher Robin/Rabbit:  (Male,18-35) Christopher Robin is a kind boy who plays with his animal friends in the Hundred Acre Wood and leads by example.  Rabbit is a worrisome rabbit who means the best for his friends but is not always sure how to help. 

Piglet/Roo/Owl:  (Female, 18-40) Piglet is a shy and quiet, often afraid of her own shadow but is also incredibly smart and noble and a great problem solver.  Roo is a kangaroo and the youngest animal in the wood.  He is boisterous and playful.  Owl is a well-educated, slightly pompous owl.  He is quick to explain or lecture, even when he isn’t sure of the right answer. 

Eeyore/Kanga:  (Male or Female, 18-50) Eeyore is a gloomy but loyal donkey.  He can never seem to shake his bad luck and is constantly losing his tail.  Kanga is a gentle kangaroo and mother to Roo.  She is good-natured and always ready to take care of the other animals.
