Siblings Vanya and Sonia have lived their entire lives in the family’s farmhouse in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. While they stayed home to take care of their ailing parents, their sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as an oft-married successful actress and movie star, leaving Vanya and Sonia to feel trapped and resentful at home. Meanwhile, the soothsayer/cleaning woman, Cassandra, warns them of terrible events to happen in the near future — events which do come true. Masha sweeps in with her boy-toy, Spike, to alleviate their misery if only for a few nights. Masha has plans of her own and she will see them fulfilled. The quiet household is thrown into a tumult as issues of sibling rivalry, regret, and love erupt.

There will be performances Fri.-Sun. Thanksgiving weekend.

Callbacks will be held on Saturday, August 20th from 10:00am-2:00 pm, at the Wimberley Playhouse located at 450 Old Kyle Road, Wimberley TX 78676
Process: 1st round – Individual/paired readings from the script. Sides will be provided. No need to prepare a monologue. Callbacks – Group readings, sides will be provided.

Characters:
Vanya: Male, late fifties. Disappointed with his life, smart and diplomatic. Keeps a lot of feelings to himself.
Sonia: 52 yo. female. She was adopted into the family when she was about 8. Insecure about her looks and often seems bitter or depressed, but she reveals a playful side at times.
Masha: Female, mid or late 50’s. Sibling of Vanya and Sonia. Successful actress and movie star that has a glamorous life. However, she has insecurities. She’s feeling older and vulnerable and she’s had five unsuccessful marriages.
Spike: Male, late 20’s. He and Masha have been “dating” for three months. He is genuinely attracted to Masha but his eye does wander. He is full of life and extremely comfortable with his body...and he likes people looking at him.
Cassandra: Female, any age, any race. Vanya and Sonia’s cleaning woman. She can see the future...or at least some of it. She cares for Vanya and Sonia and doesn’t trust Masha.
Nina: Female, late teens-early 20’s. Neighbor of Vanya and Sonia. She is an aspiring actor that is young and full of hope. Has a friendship spark with Vanya.
