The Rocky Horror Show
by Temple Civic Theatre

May. 29 - May. 30 (2016)

The Rocky Horror Show is a musical with music, lyrics and book by Richard O'Brien. A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940s through to the early 1970s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man named Rocky Horror, complete "with blond hair and a tan".  (Wikipedia)

Open auditions for a special production of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show musical will be Sunday and Monday, May 29 and 30, at 7 p.m. at Temple Civic Theatre, 2413 South 13th Street in Temple (behind the Summit Recreation Center). Director will be Natasha Tolleson.

Roles include Usherette, Brad, Janet, Narrator, Riff Raff, Columbia, Magenta, Frank'n'Furter, Rocky, Eddie, Dr. Scott, and Phantoms (Transylvanians). Rocky should be a young muscular man who will appear onstage in only posing shorts. Due to overlapping rehearsal schedules, people cast in Seussical will only be eligible to be one of the Phantoms.

Auditioners are asked to prepare a brief song (32 bars or less) that shows off their voice. We'll have an audition pianist and a CD player on hand, but you may also bring your own accompanist or CD player. There will be a simple movement exercise — so wear comfortable clothes. There will also be cold readings from the script.

The four performances will be Friday and Saturday, August 12 and 13. We'll have two shows each night — at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Sing-through will be June 2. Music rehearsals begin June 6. Rehearsals will be throughout the summer. CLICK HERE for the rehearsal schedule. Please review it before auditions and write any time conflicts on your audition form.

This musical is rated PG-13 for adult language and adult situations.
