The House on Haunted Hill
by Weird City Theatre
Aug. 01 (2015)
After a brief stay among the undead, Weird City Theatre is back! Now is your chance to be in Robert L. Berry's adaptation of the classic 1959 Vincent Price/William Castle horror, directed by Jenni Bauer. There are seven speaking roles, listed below (the movie had 4 men and 3 women, but I'm willing to be flexible). We also need two movement-oriented performers in non-speaking roles who will be ghosts/caretakers/stagehands.
Millionaire Frederick Loren and his fourth wife, Annabelle, have invited five people to the house for a "haunted house" party. Whoever stays in the house for one night will earn $10,000. As the night progresses, all the guests are trapped inside the house with ghosts, murderers, and other terrors.
Auditions are August 1 at the Ground Floor Theatre. Rehearsals kick off August 31st (either at Ground Floor or my loft a few minutes away), and the show runs at GFT October 8th-24th.
To schedule a time, email jenni@prismnet.com (including your headshot and resume, if you have them). You will get sides when you arrive.
RUTH BRIDGES: An older socialite and former newspaper columnist who is given to vices such as drinking and gambling. When things are quiet, she returns to her private hell.
ANNABELLE LOREN: Frederick Loren’s beautiful fourth wife, Annabelle is as deceitful as she is lustful. She's grown tired of her husband's jealous nature, and is now playing a very dangerous game.
FREDERICK LOREN: The millionaire host of the party. Devilishly charming, but seething with jealousy and mistrust barely contained behind a thin layer of showmanship and dry gallows humor.
NORA MANNING: A typist in Mr. Loren’s vast corporate empire. Sweet, kind, and decent. She cannot conceive of the cruelty and madness the house will bring upon her.
WATSON PRITCHARD: The current owner of the house. He is a short, nervous, sweaty man. He knows the whole gruesome history of the house. Unfortunately for everyone present, he keeps talking about it. He also drinks to excess.
LANCE SCHROEDER: The handsome, all-American daredevil test pilot. He’s a self-made hero and very sure of himself.
DR. DAVID TRENT: A psychiatrist with a keen interest in hysteria. He is a rational man of science. He's clinically detached, but may be all too ready to make anything and everything about his field of expertise. He also plays a very dangerous game.
