Characters
- Mona Stangley (Female, Alto): Owner and operator of The Chicken Ranch. She is a no-nonsense woman, but also kind and motherly to her girls.
- Jewel (Female, Mezzo-Soprano): Maid and cook at The Chicken Ranch for over 25 years. She is sassy and self-assured.
- Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd (Male, Baritone): Sheriff of the town who is a down-home cowboy, curmudgeonly, and rough around the edges.
- Melvin P. Thorpe (Male, Baritone): Television personality who is brash, bigger than life, and obsessed with morality.
- Angel (Female, Mezzo-Soprano): Teen mother who left home after her father beat her. She is tough, scrappy, and street smart.
- Shy (Female, Mezzo-Soprano): Country farm girl who is young, gawky, and a little naïve, but also headstrong.
- Doatsy Mae (Female, Alto): Waitress at the Texas Twinkle Café. Considered to be a reliable and trustworthy person.
- Senator Wingwoah (Male): A good ole boy who arranges for the winning football team to visit The Chicken Ranch.
- Bandleader (Male, Baritone): Narrator of the story and full of charm.
