Stellaluna the bat, Verdi the snake, and Pinduli the hyena all seek refreshment at a watering hole one hot day, only to find themselves the subjects of a bullying lion's ridicule. But by sharing stories about building self-confidence, these three misfit animals find wisdom, peace, and friendship. Target audience is Kindergarten-5th grade.

Auditions at the Georgetown Palace Theatre For Stellaluna and Other Tales

Seeking 5 adult actors/vocalists (3 women and 2 men) to perform in paid “theatre for youth” daytime performances. Musical is based on Janell Cannon’s picture books and includes work with puppets. All characters will sing.

Auditions March 26th & 27th, Performances April 21st-May 16th

Looking for strong character actors who can sing and move well. Experience in children’s theatre a plus.

Actors should prepare 32 bars of a song of their choosing that showcases their range. We will ask for cold readings from the script. Puppets will be provided for some parts.  

Auditions are scheduled on-line via the Palace website. You’ll fill out the audition form and sign up for a time. Please email a headshot and resume to: education@georgetownpalace.com with the subject “Stellaluna Audition”.

You'll receive an email confirming your appointment. If you’re unable to attend any of the audition times, please send us an email and we’ll work with you to schedule an alternative time.

We practice color blind casting, so all ages, abilities, gender and ethnicities are encouraged to participate.

Rehearsals: 6 Rehearsals will be weekdays from 10 am-1 pm or 10:30 am-1:30 pm between 4/6-4/16. 4 Tech rehearsals 10 am-2 pm 4/17,4/18,4/20 and 5-9 pm 4/19.

Performances: The performance dates are scheduled for two performances a day on April 21, 23, 24 & May 5, 7, 8 -performance times 9:30 am & 12:30 pm each day. Saturday mornings- May 2, 9, & 16 at 10:00 am.

Running time of the show is 55 minutes. You must be available for all performances to be considered.

Background checks: Everyone involved with the production must submit to a background check at the Palace's expense.  If you are cast, you'll receive a secure link where you can fill it out. There is no cost to you.  

Compensation: This is a contract position. Compensation for the rehearsal period and 12 confirmed performances will be $700. 3 additional performances may be added at $50/show. You will be notified of additional shows before the beginning of the run.
