Auditions for Play On!

Jul. 24 - Jul. 26 (2016)

“Perfect for any performing group, this is the hilarious story of a theater group trying desperately to put on a play in spite of maddening interference from a haughty author who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance in which anything that can go wrong does..”


Stage Presence Players is pleased to announce audition dates and times for our upcoming October 2016 production of Rick Abbot’s “Play On!”

 

 

Auditions will be held on Sunday, July 24th from 5pm-10pm and Tuesday, July 26th from 6:30pm-10pm. ***Callbacks will be scheduled if needed.**** Alternate audition arrangements may be possible upon request. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the play. No sides will be emailed ahead of time. Come early for paperwork. Please see the character breakdowns below.

Rehearsals will start with our table read the first week of August. We will work on rehearsal schedule with cast at that time.  Usually in the evenings once or twice a week and on Saturdays during day.  Tech Sunday Oct 2nd with rehearsals each night that week through opening weekend. Very important to have your calendar to note conflicts/rehearsal preferences at time of auditions.

 

The performance dates are: Fri. Oct 7th- Sun. Oct. 16th with shows Fri-Sunday evenings. We have the potential for one Thursday show on Oct 13th.

Aggie Manville – a stage manager and prompter – any age (female)

Geraldine/Gerry Dunbar – a beset upon director – over 30 (female)

Louise Perry – an overworked sound, light, and sound technician – any age (female)

Phyllis Montague – a somewhat eccentric novice playwright – “between 42 and 57” (female)

Henry Benish (Lord Dudley) – Leading man doting husband – 40- 50’s (male)

Polly Benish (Lady Margaret) – A “diva” concerned and teased about her weight – 40- 50’s (female) 

Marla “Smitty” Smith (Doris the maid) – pretty but awkward – so very very young 18-25 (female)

Saul Watson (Dr. Rex Forbes – the villain) – sardonic wit experienced character actor 40-50’s (male)

Billy Carewe (Stephen Sellers) – future leading man with appropriate hormones and ego– 25-35 (male)

 

Violet Imbry (Diana Lassiter- an Ingénue) – a pretty face if not the sharpest mind  25-35 (female)
