Greater Tuna

Though the cast of characters is diverse, Greater Tuna was written to be performed by only two actors. To that end, The Wimberley Players are seeking two strong men to carry forth the following roles.

First Actor

 


Thurston Wheelis - on air personality at radio station OKKK.
Elmer Watkins - head of the local chapter of the KKK.
Bertha Bumiller - wife of Hank and mother to Jody, Stanley, and Charlene.
Yippy the Dog- pet of the month for five weeks in a row.
Leonard Childers - Station Manager of OKKK.
Pearl Burras - Bertha's aunt who likes to poison dogs.
R.R. Snavely - Town drunk and husband to Didi.
The Reverend Spikes - Leader of the local Baptisit Church.
Sheriff Givens – The law in town.
Hank Bumiller - Husband of Bertha.

 

Second actor

 


Arles Struvie -  on air personality at radio station OKKK.
Didi Snavely - owner of Didi's Used Weapons.
Harold Dean Lattimer – the local weather man.
Petey Fisk - employee of the Greater Tuna Humane Society.
Jody Bumiller - youngest child of Bertha Bumiller, followed constantly by a pack of dogs.
Stanley Bumiller - charlene's twin brother, fresh out of reform school.
Charlene Bumiller - daughter of Hank and Bertha Bumiller, and sister to Stanley and Jody.
Chad Hartford – a reporter from Houston.
Phinas Blye – a politician from Indiana who runs for City Council every year.
Vera Carp - town snob and Vice President of the Smut-Snatchers.

Audition Date: Tuesday, February 17th at 7 pm
Callbacks Wednesday, February 18th at 7:00pm

 

Rehearsal Dates: March 3rd – April 23rd; Show Dates: April 24th – May 17th

 

Actors are encouraged but not required to prepare a two-minute monologue from a contemporary comedy for the auditions. Sides from the script will also be available for cold readings. Callbacks will consist entirely of cold readings from the script.
