Auditions for Georgetown Palace Theatre

In a magical kingdom fathoms below, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl with the enchanting voice.
Adapted from Disney’s 2008 Broadway production, Disney's The Little Mermaid features the hit songs "Part of Your World," "She’s in Love," and the Oscar®-winning "Under the Sea."

All lead, ensemble, and children’s ensemble applicants should prepare 32 bars from a song* of their choice and bring the sheet music to the audition. We will provide an acompanist. *(must be from either a Broadway or Disney show, can be from The Little Mermaid). The music does not need to be memorized. You may also bring your own accompaniment on CD, phone, or Ipod. However, please make sure there are no recorded vocals. You may NOT sing A cappella.

September 10, Vocal Auditions
1:00 to 1:45 - 10 to12 and 13-15 yr. olds auditioning for general sea creatures and sea gulls (sea gulls will be required to tap dance at dance auditions)
2:00 to 5:00 – Lead and featured roles will vocal audition in 5 minute blocks, please review the required vocal ranges and attributes of the characters listed on this page.

September 11, Vocal Auditions
6:30 to 7:15 – 10 to 12 and 13 to 15 yr. olds auditioning for general sea creatures and sea gulls (Sea gulls will be required to tap dance at dance auditions).
7:30 to 9:30 – Lead and featured roles will vocal audition in 5 minute blocks, please review the required vocal ranges and attributes of the characters listed on this page.

September 12, Dance Auditions* All auditoners MUST attend
6:30 to 6:50 – 10 to 12 and 13 to 15 yr. olds who are auditioning for seas gulls for tap auditions.
6:50 to 7:15 – 10 to 12 and 13 to 15 yr. olds who are auditioning for general sea creatures.
7:15 to 7:30– 10 to 12 and 13 to 15 yr. olds who are auditioning for Flounder
7:30 to 8:00 – Tap auditions for older teens and adults interested in being Scuttle or sea gulls.
8:00 to 9:30 – General dance auditions for older teens and adults for all parts of the show that are not sea gulls.
*Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and proper footwear for the dance auditions so you can more easily display your talent.
September 13, Callbacks by invitation Only
Callbacks will be posted on the Palace Website no later than noon on the 13th. If you are not called back that does not mean you will not be cast. We do not plan to callback all considered for the cast.

You'll receive an email confirming your appointment. If you’re unable to attend any of the audition times or the dance audition, please send us an email and we’ll try to work with you to schedule an alternative time.
Role Sharing/Conflicts:
The show will have a large number of performances, 33 currently scheduled, with the possibility of adding more if it sells really well. And with it being around the holidays, it's understandable that some who want to be involved will have performance conflicts. It's our preference not to double cast any of the roles unless we have to. But please don't let having performance conflicts prevent you from auditioning. On your audition form, please let us know what your needs and wishes are regarding role-sharing, and to what degree any conflicts are negotiable.
The Little Mermaid opens November 18th and closes January 15th. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, and 2pm on Sunday. There will be performances on week nights, as well as matinee performances on Saturdays..
Rehearsals will typically be held Monday through Thursday 7:00-10:00 and Saturday 1:00-5:00.
Background checks: Everyone involved with the production must submit to a background check at the Palace's expense. If you are cast, you'll receive a secure link where you can fill it out. There is no cost to you.
The Georgetown Palace Theatre is 501c3 Non-profit organization. There is no compensation for any of the actors.
We practice color blind casting, so all ages, abilities, gender, and ethnicities are encouraged to participate.
