Beauty and the Beast
by Georgetown Palace Theatre

Sep. 12 - Sep. 14 (2015)

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Onstage at the Georgetown Palace from November 20 to December 30, 2015

Directed by Ron Watson

Choreography by Vincent Sandoval

Music Direction by David Sherline

We’re looking for an amazing group of people to help us create this magical fairy tale. In addition to the principal roles in the show, we will cast approximately 18-20 ensemble roles, ages 13 years old and up. The ensemble is very busy, as they are both townspeople and enchanted objects. There are several solo lines in songs like Belle and The Mob Song, and many great dance numbers (Belle, Gaston, Be Our Guest, and the mob song). The Enchantress and Young Prince, the Baker, the Baker’s wife, Bookseller, Monsieur D’Arque, Silly Girls are all chorus members. Four to six members of the ensemble will also be the wolves who fight the Beast. Teens are encouraged to audition.

Please note - The actor or actress playing the role of chip must be at least 8 years old. we will consider both girls and boys for this role

Role Sharing/Conflicts:

The show will have a large number of performances, at least 25 with the inclusion show, with the possibility of adding 5 more if it sells really well. And with it being around the holidays, it's understandable that some who want to be involved will have performance conflicts. It's my preference not to double cast any of the roles unless I have to. But please don't let having performance conflicts prevent you from auditioning.  On your audition form, please let us know what your needs and wishes are regarding role-sharing, and to what degree any conflicts are negotiable.

Auditions will be held Sept 12th, 13th, and  the 14th.

Auditions will consist of a dance audition on the 12th, and then singing (either one of the selected sides, see below, or 16 bars from a song of your choice in the style of the show).

All of the men who audition will come on Saturday,  9/12 at 2pm, and all of the women will come Saturday, 12th at 3:15pm. Everyone who auditions must to come to the dance portion Saturday, as it’s critical we be able to see how everyone moves.

Callbacks will be by invitation only and held Tuesday, 9/15, starting at 6:30pm.

Auditions are scheduled on-line via the Palace website. You’ll fill out the audition form, conflict calendar, and sign up for a time.

Please email a headshot and resume to productions@georgetownpalace.com

You'll receive an email confirming your appointment. If you’re unable to attend any of the audition times, please send us an email and we’ll work with you to schedule an alternative time.

Rehearsals: Rehearsals are scheduled to begin Monday, September 21st.  Rehearsals will typically be held Monday through Thursday 7:00-10:00 and Saturday 12:00-5:00.  Since we’re having a shorter rehearsal period than normal, we’ll be distributing the scripts and music as soon casting is done, and asking everyone to be familiar with at least the lyrics by the first rehearsal.

Background checks: Everyone involved with the production must submit to a background check at the Palace's expense.  If you are cast, you'll receive a secure link where you can fill it out. There is no cost to you.

The Georgetown Palace Theatre is 501c3 Non-profit organization. There is no compensation for any of the actors.

We practice color blind casting, so all ages, abilities, gender, and ethnicities are encouraged to participate.

If you have any questions, please email productions@georgetownpalace.com.
