*Please prepare approximately 60 seconds of a musical selection that showcases your strongest vocal performance and personality. Auditionees will also be asked to learn a brief choreography combination-no advance preparation is necessary.
 

THE ROLES WE ARE CASTING

CELIE - 20s-early 30s. Drives the story. Vulnerable yet spirited with a deep, hard soul. Needs a great belt voice.

SHUG - 30s-40s. A powerful, irresistible blues singer with a frailty beneath. Needs a knockout, bluesy voice.

MISTER (ALBERT) - 30s-40s. Strong, complex, capable of cruelty but ultimately transforms. Needs a great voice.

SOFIA - 30s. Fierce, funny, and unbreakable. A warrior woman who won't be mistreated. Needs comic chops and a great belt voice.

HARPO - 20s. Mister's good-hearted son, learning what true strength is. Needs a great tenor voice.

NETTIE - 20s. Celie's sister. Adventurous, feisty, and deeply loving. Needs a great belt voice with African influence.

SQUEAK (MARY AGNES) - 20s. Sassy, fiery, strong-willed, and ready to claim her name and her life. Needs comic chops and a great belt/soprano voice.

ADULT SINGERS (ENSEMBLE) - 20s-50s. All types and singing ranges. Play various roles, including the Church Ladies - busybody types featured throughout the show.
