The Mountaintop is a play by American playwright Katori Hall. It is a fictional depiction of Martin Luther King Jr.’s last night on earth set entirely in Room 306 of the Lorraine Motel on the eve of his assassination in 1968.

Actor Needed!

Role Open for Martin Luther King, Jr.

We're searching for the lead role of The Mountaintop by Katori Hall. The production starts rehearsals in January with the show opening, Friday, Feb. 6, 2026. This is the opening show of our 2026 season in the Doug Smith Performance Center. There is a stipend for this role and it is a bit larger than other nonmusical shows because there are only two actors.
