BECAUSE OUR WORLD NEEDS A HERO! 

Our 23rd original, bilingual play follows our Superhero -- PiraguaMan -- and his heroine instructor as they save important timelines in 19th and early 20th century Puerto Rico. 

Our annual action-packed, mainstage production is based in Puerto Rican oral and documented history, and will combine original live music, dance, community theater, and Cocobalé -- STICKS & MACHETE FIGHTING -- to bring history to life and honor unsung heroes! Knowledge of Spanish a plus, but not required.

Announcing auditions for roles in our original play for adults of all ages! 
Actors must reside in Austin or surrounding areas.

 

PRODUCTION DETAILS

A multi-ethnic cast of adults of all ages will bring 19th and early 20th century history to life through roles including:

* PiraguaMan,The Superhero (Male) - honorarium for experienced actor and stick fighter.

Also:
* Female Heroines / Colonial Sugar Canes
* Jibaro Resistance / Mountain Coffee Workers
* Flag saving Heroines / 20th century activists
* Fighting artists (sticks and machetes)

Great volunteer opportunity! Barter includes:

- Professional Stage Combat training - sticks and machetes - by Toby Minor (TX State U).
- Authentic training in Boricua folkloric dance and song - by Dr. Maynard, PRFDance Director.

Production Schedule:

- Community Theatre actors will meet Wednesdays, 6-9:30 pm, starting September 10, 2025. 

- Additional Musical Theatre rehearsals, Monday evenings starting Nov 10 will fold actors, dancers, musicians, and fighters into one exciting musical! 

- (Opportunity!) Fight Training will include professional workshops on stage combat on selected Saturdays afternoons.

- (Opportunity) Dance & Song Training on Monday evenings

- Show week & weekend, starting Dec 7 for final dress & tech rehearsals

If selected - Please bring one 2-minute monologue of your choice, dramatic or comedic (suitable for family entertainment) for your in-person audition in front of our artistic community.
