Zany hijinks and nonstop hilarity explode across the stage as literal and figurative bombshells drop from start to finish in this wild screwball farce. It’s the swankiest penthouse in London, and it’s been rented out for pennies on the dollar. The top floor of a tall building isn’t the safest place to party when the Nazis are bombing London on a nightly basis, but a little thing like the blitz won’t stop our boys from throwing a blowout the night before shipping out.
Four young soldiers from disparate origins: Jersey a motor mouth sailor, Stillwater a rambunctious cowboy, Mousehole a charming British Lord, and Skatch...a Canadian. Four young women from disparate backgrounds: Garboldisham an elegant British Countess, Mary a London Cockney “Rosie the Riveter,” Jane an eccentric American, and Lulu a French debutante...or is she?
The planned night of libations, love songs, and romance, devolves into madcap chaos as the party gets hijacked by the ambitions of a bellicose commanding officer, and the nefarious plot of an undercover Nazi spy. Insanity reigns as the various plots careen off the rails and the play hurtles towards an explosive climax where the girls want to rescue the boys and the boys want to rescue the girls, and everyone wants to fall in love.
PH2000 auditions for Bombshells, December 1, 2024 at 2:30 pm and December 2, 2024 at 6:30 pm
All auditions are held in the Werlein Annex Studio unless otherwise indicated. You are required to come to only one audition session but are always welcome to attend both. Scripts will be available in the P2K Office at least a month before auditions.
Director Amy Goodyear will be looking for 4 women and 5 men for this world premiere, hilarious, slapstick romp through the last night of WWII.
Characters:
Lulu : A Girl in disguise, 20’s-30s
Jersey : A Sailor, 20’s-30s
Mary-Le-Bow : A Cockney Gal, 20’s-40’s.
Stillwater : A Cowboy, 20’s-40’s.
Jane : An Eccentric Gal, 20’s-40’s.
Saskatchewan : A Canadian Fool, 20’s-40’s.
Garboldisham : A British Countess, 20’s-40’s.
Mousehole : A British Lord, 20’s-40’s.
The Colonel : A Man in his middle age.
Please note that Bombshells is a very physical show – the action will require running, jumping, falling, hiding behind things, and general mayhem. The only character not involved in this physical comedy is the Colonel. Please consider these requirements before auditioning. Please dress comfortably and be prepared to read from the script and do some physical acting exercises.
