Changing Lives is a collaboration between Creative Action and Expect Respect, a program of SAFE. Since 2003, CLYTE has offered original theatrical productions written and performed by youth artists and activists. Each year, the ensemble writes, rehearses, and tours a brand new show around the themes of healthy relationships, social justice, and violence prevention, reaching up to 3,000 audience members across the greater Austin area.
CLYTE sparks dialogue about teen relationships and gives young adults the knowledge, skills, and confidence to stand as courageous allies against dating violence, sexual harassment, and bullying.

Seeking Teen Leaders, Artists, & Activists, 14-18 yrs
Changing Lives is a group of Austin area teens who use theatre to inspire conversations about healthy relationships. And we get paid to do it!
Spring Auditions: Thursday, May 9th at Creative Action
BEING A CHANGING LIVES MEMBER
As a CLYTE member, you will help write and perform an original play that addresses social justice issues like dating violence and sexual assault prevention, LGBTQIA+ allyship, racism, sexism, and ableism. We work on theatre-based skills like acting, improv, movement, writing, facilitation, and design. However, previous theatre experience is not required.
TIME COMMITMENT
Changing Lives meets at Creative Action every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9 PM from late August to May. In the spring, we tour the play to middle school audiences during the school day, as well as community events on select evenings. CLYTE members may be asked to miss up to 4 full school days.
GROUP PARTICIPATION
We work as an ensemble. While there is space for individual growth, we are looking for team players who are excited to meet new people and work on collaborative artistic projects.
