John Logan’s taut, visceral two-hander Red features artist Mark Rothko at the height of his career. Viewed through the lens of his youthful new assistant, Ken, we witness Rothko at the pinnacle of his creativity, but struggling through the creation of a series of large paintings, commissioned as a series intended to feature in New York’s brand-new Four Seasons Restaurant. As Ken and Rothko paint, they challenge each other to ask big questions about art: what it takes to create it and what its role should be in the world. Set in the 1950s, and based on a series of real events, Red takes a compelling look at the ever-changing relationship between an artist and his creations.

The ACC Drama Department is accepting video submissions for our production in SPRING 2024- Red by John Logan.
Auditions are open to all ACC students and the community. You do not need to be an ACC student to audition.
Roles are uncompensated.
CASTING FOR:
Mark Rothko: American painter, 50s or older
Ken- His new assistant, 20's
We are seeking a diverse cast. Performers of all race and gender encouraged to audition.

Fridays & Saturdays 7:30 PM
Sundays 2:00 PM
You can either submit a video submission until 7:00 PM on January 6th, 2024 OR choose to attend in-person auditions on January 8th by requesting an audition slot in the audition form.
Callbacks will be on January 9th where attendance is required in order to be considered for a role. Both the in-person auditions and the callbacks will be held at the Highland Campus Building 2000.
