Escape to Margaritaville is a musical comedy featuring the most-loved Jimmy Buffett classics, including “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, “Margaritaville,” “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Fins,” “Volcano,” and many more. With a book by Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia (“My Name is Earl,” “Raising Hope”) and Emmy nominee Mike O’Malley (“Survivor’s Remorse,” “Shameless”), this hilarious, heartwarming musical is the party you’ve been waiting for!

Waco Civic Theatre is excited to bring Jimmy Buffett to Waco through our season closer, Escape to Margaritaville!
We are looking to cast 3 men and 3 women and 10-12 ensemble members.
Come prepared to sing 30 seconds of a song in similar style of the show (Jimmy Buffett) but not anything from the show.
Be prepared to move, but dance experience is not required for this show.

Auditions with the Waco Civic Theatre occur approximately 4-6 weeks prior to the show’s opening date. Audition postings are updated on this page and promoted on social media. Auditionees will sign up for a time using the link provided, prepare a song or monologue according to the audition directions, and submit an audition form to the panel inside the audition room. The director may also ask auditionees to read selections from the script. Either a cast list or a call-back list will be posted both to the website and social media about 24 hours after the final audition is completed.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS
Fully committed to her job and helping the world. Willing to put in as many hours of hard work as it takes and expects everyone else to do that same. Suspicious of fools and operators, Rachel is not easily distracted from her life plan.
Female – 30-39
Loyal friend to Rachel. Sees the best in people and has a zest for life that is often squelched by her fiance, Chad. Her low self-esteem manifests itself as denial in her own life.
Male – 30-39
The Island bartender. Has a big heart and a good friend to Tully. Not the brightest bulb, but sensitive and thoughtful.
Female – 40-49
No-nonsense and assertive with an island accent. She runs the resort and keeps everyone in check, but clearly cares about her employees, her customers, and J.D., an older island denizen. Great singer.
A funny, endearing older man who always has a parrot on his shoulder. He’s losing his vision and his hearing, but won’t acknowledge it. A good-natured drunkard, he’s always writing his memoirs on bar napkins and, as it turns out, he’s lived a full life.
