Cinderella, the musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein
by Georgetown Palace Theatre

Jan. 15 - Jan. 16 (2023)

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical Cinderella follows Ella, a young woman living with Madame, her Stepmother, and two Stepsisters, the brash and overbearing Charlotte and the shier, awkward Gabrielle.  Prince Topher is returning to rule the kingdom after the death of his parents and the kingdom is teetering on the brink of turmoil under the interim rule of the late king’s advisor Sebastian.  Despite the obstacles in their way, and with a little help from Marie the Fairy Godmother, Prince Topher and Ella meet, bring out the best in each other, and in the kingdom and its people as well.  This show is a surprisingly hilarious romp showing that hope and kindness prevail over selfishness, and following your heart is the path to happiness.

Cinderella Auditions

Initial Auditions for The Georgetown Palace’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella will take place from January 15-17, 2023.  The production is scheduled to open on Friday March 31st, 2023 and close on Sunday April 30th, 2023.  Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Monday February 6th, 2023.  No roles require any specific age or background/demographic, so we encourage anyone aged 18 and up to audition.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for talented and diverse performers of all ethnicities for all roles aged 18 and up.

Character descriptions can be found at Cinderella Character Descriptions for more specific information regarding the people that populate this piece.

THE AUDITIONS:

Primary auditions will consist of a singing audition on Sunday January 15th, with a required dance call for all auditioners on Monday January 16th.  Callbacks (by invitation only) will be held on the evening of Tuesday January 17th.

Vocal auditions are from 6:00 PM- 10:00 PM on Sunday January 15th on the Springer Stage.  This initial audition should consist of no more than one minute of a song in the style of the show that shows off your range and abilities.  This is a classic show that does not use pop music, so please factor that into your choice as you prepare your audition.  Singing from the show is acceptable if you so choose, but we encourage you to use your initial audition to show us not only your talent, but also your creativity and personality.  An accompanist will be provided, please do not bring pre-recorded music to sing over.

The dance audition on Monday January 16th will be from 6:30 PM- 10:00 PM on the Tin Barn Rehearsal Stage and will consist of a general dance call as well as partner work.  Due to the partnering dance call, this audition will include everyone together.  Please come in comfortable clothes (probably not jeans, just sayin’) and appropriate shoes – jazz or character shoes are preferred but tennis shoes are acceptable as well.  All roles will participate in some capacity during musical numbers, so all auditioners are required to attend.

Audition sign ups can be found HERE

When signing up for an audition slot please note any conflicts during the rehearsal or performance dates.  Please note: conflicts do not necessarily negate the opportunity to be cast, but we must know about them up front to factor that into the casting decisions.  Barring emergencies, additional conflicts added/disclosed after casting could result in dismissal from the production.  Sunday rehearsals will only be planned for tech rehearsals immediately prior to opening, but please include Sunday afternoon conflicts for the rehearsal period so that in the event a Saturday must be canceled due to cast conflicts we will know whether a reschedule on Sunday is an option.

THE CALLBACKS:

Callbacks will take place on Tuesday January 17th by invitation only from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM on the Playhouse Stage.  Callbacks will be posted on the Georgetown Palace website as soon as possible after initial auditions are completed, and an email will be sent to all audition participants at the time of posting.  Specific reading sides and cuts of songs will be provided for callbacks for all characters.  A link to this material will be provided in the email.

REHEARSALS:

Rehearsals begin Monday February 6th.  Scripts and scores will be available for pick up prior to this rehearsal for those who are offered roles in the production.  Rehearsals will typically be held Monday-Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

PERFORMANCES:

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30p, and Sundays at 2p. Sometimes ticket demand causes us to add Saturday matinee performances at 2p.

CASTING:

Once casting is completed (typically 2-3 days after callbacks), emails will be sent to the actors that will be offered a role in the production. Once the full cast has accepted, everyone else who auditioned will be notified via email.

HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS:

Everyone should self-monitor for symptoms and stay home if they do not feel well. You should also wear a mask if you have direct exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and get tested on the 5th day following the exposure.

We’re constantly monitoring and evaluating our policies and will update them based on guidance from the CDC.
