The Journey of the Wise Men returns to the campus of Wizard Academy for December 2022 after a 2-year hiatus with some all-new elements and effects. This walking Nativity Trail has a Renaissance feel, as though Leonardo di Vinci might have staged it.

 

For the first time ever in its 12 year history, this event is not free to the public, and, in order to control crowds and maintain some distance, only 20 to 25 guests will tour over 2 weekends Tours will leave every half hour between 6 PM and 9 PM.

YOUR STAGE: Named after the Magi, visitors will travel along the various paths and buildings on the beautiful Wizard Academy campus, www.WizardAcademy.org, near Dripping Springs, also home to Chapel Dulcinea. Guests will be guided by an Angel, accompanied by two assistants or “Mechanicals” and encounter familiar and new characters in the Christmas story.

ROLE DESCRIPTIONS:

Angel – Graceful and controlled like a dancer, ethereal and otherworldly. Capable of learning lines in verse.

Mechanicals – Need 3 - Strength and grace. Musical inclination preferred. These assistants travel with the Angel, act as crowd control for the audience, and fire off many of the lighting and sound cues. They will also act as assistant puppeteers for the Angel Gabriel in the finale’.

Hannah – (A sour neighbor of Mary & Joseph from Nazareth) Puppetry experience preferred. You will be the voice behind a bunraku-style puppet.

Shepherd – Strong physical presence. Musically inclined, as many of your movements will have to be timed with music.

Mary – Iconic role. Dark hair or features preferred. No lines required.

Gabriel – Puppetry experience preferred, booming voice, musically-inclined. No movement involved.

 

Stage Manager – Physically fit. (It’s a big stage!) Technical expertise preferred, as you will have to help set up the various scenes and test lighting and sound at each location in advance of cast arrival. Capable of managing cast and working in concert with on-site personnel.

Some wiggle room on rehearsals is tolerated, but actors MUST commit to all performance dates without exception.

COMPENSATION: (Varies by degree of difficulty or stage time)
