Edit Annie

September 2022 World Premiere play by Mary Glen Fredrick.

Directed by Will Detlefsen, Guest Director and NNPN Fellow.

This dark comedic thriller descends deep into Annie’s mind and interrogates the loneliness of living with screens, the implications of being able to edit every aspect of yourself, and what’s “real” in a digital age.

Casting 4 Actors:

ANNIE she/her, 30s, any ethnicity. Cis and trans/non-binary actors. Incredibly talented self-taught video editor for social media influencer Clara, but her true passion is Claymation. Severe anxiety, hasn’t left the house for a while. Uses humor to mask her pain—and is also just very funny. A lovable weirdsmobile.

CLARA she/her, mid-20s, any ethnicity. Cis and trans/non-binary actors.  A social media influencer with a huge following, Clara is charismatic and genuinely loves what she does—and isn’t easy to write off. Good at hiding in plain sight, she doesn’t let most people see her true depths, or any of the cracks beneath the surface.

DANA they/them, 30s, any ethnicity. Non-binary actors. Annie’s former roommate. Wary of all influencers and honestly kind of anyone who buys into the social media dopamine slot machine. A deeply thoughtful person. Great at keeping plants alive.

JACKSON he/him, mid-20s, any ethnicity. Cis and trans/non-binary actors. Clara’s boyfriend, also an influencer. He has fewer followers than Clara…and knows it. Note: Jackson only appears in footage (not on stage).
