The Wizard of Oz
by Georgetown Palace Theatre

Apr. 30 - May. 01 (2022)

Follow the yellow brick road in this delightful stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the MGM film. This version is close to the MGM movie musical and includes the songs Over The Rainbow, Munchkinland (Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead), If I Only Had A Brain/A Heart/The Nerve, We’re Off To See The Wizard (Follow The Yellow Brick Road), The Jitterbug, Poppies (Optimistic Voices), If I Were King Of The Forest, and The Merry Old Land of Oz.

*Please note that several of the characters in Wizard of Oz fly in our production. We have employed a professional flight rigging company to come in and set up our flight equipment and will have at least 1 full dedicated rehearsal for flight choreography and safety once this show loads into the Springer. Our flight captain will maintain the flight system each rehearsal and performance going forward. Flight Safety and the safety of our staff and volunteers is our priority.*

Rehearsals:

The Wizard of Oz will begin rehearsals on or around Saturday, May 21, 2022. Scripts and Scores will be available for pick up before the first rehearsal to those who are offered roles in our production.

Rehearsals are typically held Monday through Thursday from 7:00-10:00 pm and Saturdays or Sundays* from 1:00-5:00 pm. Munchkins may be asked to attend rehearsals beginning at 6:00pm (with an earlier ending time on those specific days).

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm. Sometimes ticket demand causes us to add Saturday Matinee performances at 2 pm.

*Sunday rehearsals will be put onto the scheduleonly  if Saturdays become unavailable due to too many cast conflicts. Please put Saturday and Sunday conflicts on your form.

Conflicts:

Please make sure to notate all conflicts that you are aware of on your conflict sheet when filling out your audition form. It is difficult to create a rehearsal schedule if we do not know all of your conflicts up front. Adding all of your conflicts after casting could result in removal of the production.

Health and Safety Protocols:

The Georgetown Palace currently encourages masks for all patrons, front of house staff, performers, crew, and musicians during performances.

Masks are optional for performers, crew, and musicians who would like to wear one but we do also encourage submitting a weekly negative PCR test with the Stage Manager.

We’re constantly monitoring and evaluating our policies and will update them based on guidance from the CDC.

The Georgetown Palace is committed to creating an inclusive and safe environment in which all community members feel a sense of belonging, and does not discriminate in casting practices on the basis of an individual’s ethnicity, age, gender, physical and cognitive ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, country of origin or other factors.  We strongly encourage candidates of all ages, abilities, gender, and ethnicities to audition.

Background checks: Everyone involved with the production must submit to a background check at the Palace’s expense. If you are cast, you will receive a secure link where you can fill it out. There is no cost to you.
