Crimes of the Heart
by Gaslight Baker Theatre
Feb. 20 - Feb. 22 (2022)
Set in rural Mississippi in 1974, three sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch, their grandfather, who is living out his last few hours in the local hospital. At 30 and unmarried, Lenny is facing diminishing prospects for her future. After failed singing career on the west coast, Meg returns to Hazlehurst and to an old flame, who is now married. Babe, the youngest, is out on bail having shot her husband in the stomach. Their troubles, grave and yet somehow hilarious, are highlighted by their prim and proper cousin Chick, and by the awkward young lawyer who tries to keep Babe out of jail, and himself from falling in love with her.
