The Cat in the Hat

Everyone’s favorite cat comes to mischievous life in ZACH Theatre’s production of the Dr. Seuss classic. Sally and her brother are stuck home in the rain, when a Cat comes knocking at the windowpane! But the Cat has brought friends, Thing One and Thing Two, who make messes and problems and oh, what to do?! Mischief and mayhem and laughter galore, bring the kids— they’ll clamor for more!


CAT IN THE HAT AUDITION NOTICE

ZACH Theatre is currently seeking six male and female non-AEA actors, of all ethnicities, ages 18-50 with strong skills in physical theatre for our upcoming production of Cat in the Hat.

AUDITIONS

Tuesday, October 19 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Nowlin Rehearsal Studio, 1426 Toomey Rd, Austin, TX 78704.

CALLBACKS

Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm Nowlin Rehearsal Studio

REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:

Rehearsals begin January 10, 2022.

The first school performance will be on Tuesday, January 25 and opening night for the public is Friday, January 28, 2022. Performances will be weekly, Tuesdays through Sundays. Actors should audition only  if they will have daytime availability in January, February, and March. Matinee performances for school grooups will be at 10 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday. Evening performances will be Fridays at 7:00 p.m., public matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

Cat in the Hat – A tall actor needed to play this iconic mischievous maker 

Boy – Student actors ages 8-18 to play a 10-year-old boy


Sally – Student actors ages 8-18 to play a 10-year-old girl


Fish – Actor or actress ages 18-50 needed, ideally has puppet experience 

Thing 1 and Thing 2 – Student actors ages 10-18, tumbling abilities a plus
