Rap Unzel presents a journey of Black Boy Joy, self-care, and hair. Reginald “RAP” Unzel is a young man with big hair and bigger dreams of musical stardom. . . IF only he can get out of his room. This celebration of identity, awareness, and empowerment features hip hop music and dance. Appropriate for ages 6 and up.
Rap Unzel by Jeremy Rashad Brown received 2 productions in 2019, debuting at Scottish Rite Theatre with another production in New Orleans by the Radical Buffoons. One of the most significant cultural and social contributions of current American theatre is to center voices and images of people of color. Jeremy Rashad Brown creates a contemporary view for Black Boys and young men with fresh characters for new audiences. This significant representation for young people provides new pathways for social change and reframing identity. The VORTEX proudly presents this new production.
