Austin Latino New Play Festival

As you may know, this annual festival showcases new plays with our Austin, TX audiences. Every year we bring you four new plays by new and emerging playwrights and seasoned folks in the field. Traditionally we bring this showcase live from the Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin, but for the second year in a row, we will be presenting the festival virtually. While we continue to miss the magical nature of live theatre, we are excited to to be able to feature and share this work with as many folks from around the country that normally would not have been able to join us. With that, please stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the festival dates in May.



May 13th, 2021:
“Machine Learning” by Francisco Mendoza (Thursday, 7 PM)


May 14th, 2021:
“This Bitch: Esta Sangre Quiero” by Adrienne Dawes (Friday, 7 PM)


May 15th, 2021:
“Have to Believe We Are Magic” by Sara Guerrero, young adult themes, some adult language and content (Saturday, 3 PM)
“Los Pochos” by Herbert Siguenza (Saturday, 7 PM)

 

Audition Dates and Times:

March 26th, 2021 – 7 pm – 9 pm;  March 27th & 28th – 1 pm – 4 pm

Location: Zoom (link will be provided at least one hour prior to the beginning of auditions for each day)

Important Notes:

We are casting for 4 new plays. Auditions will be virtual. Signing up here means you understand that there will be ALNPF directors and other production members sitting live prepared to meet you at this audition via Zoom. If you cannot make your audition time once signed up, please contact our ALNPF Festival Manager Alex Sepulveda at (210) 636-4833.

You will present one 2-minute monologue of your choice. There are roles that require singing, if you note that you are a singer on your audition form, you may be asked to sing something short without accompaniment.

Please keep these important dates in mind (these dates and times are pretty much set; your show date will be determined based on what show you are cast in):

  • April 12th 7 pm – 10 pm – Initial Reading of Play
  • May 2nd 2 pm – 3:30 pm – ALNPF Kickoff
  • May 3rd – May 12th 7 pm – 10 pm – Rehearsals and Tech Dates
  • May 13th – Show #1 7pm
  • May 14th – Show #2 7pm
  • May 15th – Show #3 2pm ; Show #4 7pm
