This Broadway smash hit, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, is based on the memorable film. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. But will their plot work? And can a team of secretaries really get ahead in the impenetrable boy’s club?
Auditions for FTC’s Winter Musical 9 to 5 The Musical will be held Sunday and Monday, November 1 & 2, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater, located at 1668 Highway 87 South in Fredericksburg.
In order for FTC to comply with social distancing guideline, actors must sign up in advance for a 5-minute time slot. To reserve a time slot, call the theater office at 888-997-3588. Each audition will be held separately. There will be no group auditions.
For auditions you will need to prepare 32 bars of a show tune, or a verse and chorus. You may choose a song from the show, or another song that best shows your vocal range and abilities. A CD player and MP3 hookup will be available. A keyboard and accompanist will also be present. No acapella auditions please.
There will be a brief dance/movement auditions, so please dress accordingly. Actors will also be asked to read scenes from the script. Audition sides will be available to be checked out from the FTC Box Office starting Monday, October 13.

Schedule:
Rehearsals are typically Monday through Friday, 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. There is no scheduled rehearsal on the Thanksgiving Day Weekend or during the Christmas holiday.
Feb 8 -12 are Technical/Dress Rehearsals. For the success of the production, attendance at these rehearsals and at all performances is mandatory for the entire cast and crew.

Violet
The company's Head Secretary and Mr. Hart's Administrative Assistant, she is a single mother and typically stands up for what she believes in. Attractive, strong, ambitious.
