The Swan
by Burrow Theatre

Jan. 18 (2020)

Dora Hand lives by herself in a small house. She’s gone through three husbands and now seems destined to play the mistress to her married milkman, Kevin — until a swan crashes into her living room window setting Dora on a harrowing journey. Suddenly, Dora finds herself dangerously entangled with the swan, whose animal devotion to her threatens her already neglected lover and ultimately her sense of self.

In the original script, the Swan is male, however with the support and encouragement of the playwright, our production is presenting this unique play in a brand new light by changing the gender of the swan to female, digging deeper into the nature of female desire and illuminating the rarely-seen depths of the feminine animal.

"A bewitching bed-time story for grown-ups…a psycho-sexual cauldron wherein fantasy and deprivation merge and combust.” -NY Daily News

Auditions for The Swan by Elizabeth Egloff

 January 18th, 2020 10 am - 2 pm

at  Texas Crew Productions, 8940 Research Blvd, Austin, TX (2nd floor - above Pinballz).

Email burrowtheatre@gmail.com with your headshot and resume to reserve an audition time and receive sides. Please also note your availability to rehearse during the day M-F in March/April. A copy of the full play can also be emailed upon request.

We are auditioning for one leading role, the part of Kevin. The roles of Dora (Giselle Marie Munoz) and the Swan (Charlotte Gulezian) have already been cast. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

Kevin - lead - male-identifying - 30s-50s. A blue-collar, earnest, hard-working milkman. Very needy. In love with Dora, and disturbed and threatened by the Swan. Although this is a drama, strong comedic timing is a plus. The actor must be comfortable with brief periods of intimacy with a woman to include kissing and touching.

The Swan will run April 30 - May 23, 2020 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8 pm. Performances will take place in a highly immersive, intimate environment inside a small home in south central Austin for an audience of only 16 people per performance. Rehearsals will begin in late March at the same location. We are hoping to schedule rehearsals primarily M-F during the day, so preference will likely be given to actors with daytime rehearsal availability.
