Sylvia
by Playhouse 2000
Nov. 24 - Nov. 25 (2019)
Greg and Kate are excited to be living in Manhattan after twenty-two years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg’s career as a financial trader is winding down, while Kate’s career, as a public-school English teacher, is beginning to offer her more opportunities. To Kate’s dismay, Greg brings home a dog he found in the park bearing only a battered name tag with the name “Sylvia”. Can this marriage be saved? And can Sylvia ever become a real member of the family? You’ll find out in this touching and laugh-filled“romantic” comedy.

P2K's Season 2020 will get a grand start with a revival of the popular "Romantic" Comedy Sylvia by A.R. Gurney. We last presented this show in 2014 to rave reviews.
Sarah Derousseau, who played the title role in that production, returns to P2K as the Stage Director for this version.
Sarah will be looking for 2 Men and 2 Women (although the ratio might change) to fill out the cast for this fun show.
Available roles are:
- "Greg" and "Kate" - a married couple who've spent the past 22 years raising kids in the suburbs, and have now made the move into Manhattan for the "next phase" of their marriage;
- "Tom," "Phyllis," and "Leslie" - people in and around Greg and Kate's life. May be played by a single actor or actress, or spread around.
- "Sylvia" - the stray dog that Greg finds in a New York park who causes all of the play's complications and helps us re-discover why we love dogs so much.
Auditions will be in the Werlein Annex Studio on Sunday, November 24 at 2:30 and Monday, November 25 at 6:30. No advance preparation is necessary, and you need not be present at both auditions.
Get on stage with Playhouse 2000! We hope to see you there!
