Blood Brothers

Blood Brothers is a musical with book, lyrics, and music by Willy Russell. The story revolves around fraternal twins Mickey and Eddie, who were separated at birth, one subsequently being raised in a wealthy family, the other in a poor family. The different environments take the twins to opposite ends of the social spectrum. 

They both fall in love with the same girl, causing a rift in their friendship. Russell says that his work was based on a one-act play that he read as a child "about two babies switched at birth ... it became the seed for Blood Brothers."

The EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens is holding auditions for our spring musical Blood Brothers, to be directed by Karin Cunningham, on Thursday, November 21st. Auditioners need to sing 12-16 measures (or a short song) to an accompanist track or karaoke track (piano accompanist not available), and memorize a one minute monologue of their choice. Blood Brothers runs April 3-11, 2020 in our Burdine Johnson Indoor Studio Theatre.

Actors and crew will be paid a stipend.

We are auditioning for:
Mr. Lyons (40-65 years old) - A wealthy businessman, Mr. Lyons feels affection for his wife Mrs. Lyons and his son Edward, but is too oblivious and self-important to realize that Edward is in fact not his biological child. As Mrs. Lyons’ mental health deteriorates, however, Mr. Lyons becomes increasingly alarmed. Throughout the play, he is paternalistic and preoccupied. He does sing in the show, as well.

A diverse, strong, and singing ensemble to play the following roles (we will be double and triple casting actors to create a small ensemble):
