SUNFLOWER is a full-length musical that follows Amalie, a shy and sensitive 6th grader who doesn't fit in with her peers. Amalie finds escape from a painful life at school by magically traveling into a Van Gogh's painting. She meets Van Gogh at Cafe Terrace at Night, in the world of 19th century Arles. She finds in him a kindred spirit. As the story progresses, both Amalie and Vincent face increasing challenges in their worlds. Both are faced with depression and despair. Eventually Amalie must make an important choice. This is a musical for theatre lovers of all ages but has a special message for middle school children and their families. The play emphasizes kindness, tolerance, and hope in the face of despair.

Audition Notice
Meteor Theatre proudly announces auditions for our 1st new musical workshop! We are seeking adult performers for the summer workshop production to be prepared in conjunction with middle school students.
We will be holding auditions for Sunflower Wednesday, April 24th ,6:00-8:00 PM at Sycamore Springs Middle School. Please plan on reading from the script and have a song prepared. Feel free to bring sheet music for the provided accompanist or music (without vocals) on your phone to play for your song. If you are unable to attend auditions but are interested in participating in the project, please e-mail MeteorTheatreArtHouse@gmail.com for directions on how to submit an online audition. The show dates will be July 26-28 at Sycamore Springs Theater. Rehearsals will begin July 1st and run evenings Monday thru Thursday. Come and join in the fun as Meteor Theatre brings new and innovative theatre to the Dripping Springs area.
