Barefoot in the Park

Barefoot in the Park is a romantic comedy focusing on a pair of newlyweds, Corie and Paul, as they begin married life in a tiny, 5th-floor walkup apartment in a Manhattan brownstone. Paul is a strait-laced attorney; Corie has a far more spontaneous, free spirit. Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. As the young couple contend with a lack of heat, a skylight that leaks snow, several long flights of stairs, oddball neighbor (in the attic) Victor Velasco, and Corie's well-meaning mother, they must also reconcile their own personal differences in how they approach life's challenges. 

After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does. Paul just doesn’t understand Corie, as she sees it. He’s too staid, too boring, and she just wants him to be a little more spontaneous. Running “barefoot in the park” would be a start…

AUDITION DATES: Tuesday, January 8^th, 2019, & Wednesday, January 9^th, 2019 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, room D

                                  Saturday, January 12^th, 2019, 10:00 AM to Noon, Room B

 

AUDITION LOCATION:  The Lakeway Activity Center,  105 Cross Creek,  Lakeway, TX 78734

 

AUDITION TIMES:  Please contact Linda Dobbs to set up a specific audition time. 

 

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: 

•             Actors should be prepared to cold read from the script.

•             Please bring 1 copy each of your headshot and resume’ if you have them.

 

CASTING:  4 males, 2 females.  Roles are as follows: 

 

CORIE BRATTER - a free spirit, newlywed to Paul 

PAUL BRATTER - a lawyer, newlywed to Corie 

MRS. BANKS - Corie's mother

VICTOR VELASCO - the neighbor in the attic 

TELEPHONE REPAIR MAN 

DELIVERY MAN

 

Rehearsals will begin the last week in January and continue thru tech and dress, the last week in March.   The quality of the auditions will determine the best casting for the show.  This will be assessed after all auditions are completed.
